#%$^ Caucus!

I am truly annoyed by the whole Caucus thing. How many more people could cast their vote if it were a primary?

Anyone who has to work at 7:00 pm – sorry!
Your child has an activity – either vote or make the kid miss this week
Then there is us – we have two small children. We have three choices

1. Get a babysitter and pay them so we can vote!
2. One of us votes the other stays home.
3. Bring a 2 year old and 6 year old to the caucus. The El Paso County Democratic office told me I should not bring them. She said they will have to be quiet for an hour and a half. I asked if I could legally bring them and she said yes but that I shouldn’t if they are under the age of nine.

Wonderful! Really promotes getting voters out there!

So – most likely I am going to go to the caucus and Luke will stay home.

  1. I feel the same way. I WAS planning on going until Max told me he had to take a trip this week. NO WAY am I going with 3 kids under the age of 7! Good luck tonight! – Myndi

  2. Maybe if everyone brought every last kid they can round up, and put itching powder in their clothes, and made sure they were in the foulest moood possible, and sat there for the whole hour and a half pretending the kids are not being disruptive, next time they’d get the message and plan better?Yeah, probably not. 😦

  3. This is exactly what happened to us today. I got to go while Jim stayed home with the kiddo’s.It stinks. ;(

  4. I don’t think I’ll bitch about having to declare a party at our primary, at least not too much. That really stinks.

  5. This was the first primary I ever almost voted in. I wanted to vote in the Democratic caucus, but I’m registered Independent which meant I couldn’t. Maybe I should have changed my registration, because its down to the wire with a few provisional ballots to go.

  6. I didn’t know what a caucus was until I looked it up because of your post. I am glad I did. The democrats in WA have to caucus, while the Republicans absentee-vote in their primary.
